چکیده

Pomegranate is an emerging potential fruit crop of Nepal and it can be cultivated successfully from tropical to warm temperate climatic condition terai mid- hills. This research was conducted study the morphological traits identify superior pomegranate genotypes at Horticulture Research Station (HRS), Dailekh in 2019. Three (HRDPOM001, HRDPOM004 HRDPOM004M) were studied for their growth, flowers pomological characters. Variation plants, flower characters observed genotypes. The highest marketable weight (1.4 kg/plant) produced HRDPOM001, followed by (1.2 kg/plant). aril (60.5%) measured HRDPOM004. Highest TSS (12.8°Brix) good taste preferences recorded fruits Pomological attributes found better than other Individual weight, length, diameter showed significant positive association with total selection these could improve yield. Based on major attributes, promising selected cultivate similar agro-climatic regions Nepal.

Molecular and morphological characterization of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) genotypes sampled from Coruh Valley in Turkey.

The pomegranate is one of the oldest fruits that are traditionally consumed by the local inhabitants of the Coruh Valley, Turkey. In this study, the molecular and morphological characteristics of 19 promising pomegranate genotypes selected from the Coruh Valley were evaluated. For the morphological evaluation, 22 quantitative fruit characteristics were used. For the molecular evaluation, 47 ran...

Genetic characterization of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) genotypes by AFLP markers.

The Coruh Valley, located in Northeastern Turkey, is one of the most important centers of diversity in pomegranate in Turkey. In this study, we attempted to characterize 19 promising pomegranate genotypes originating from the Coruh Valley in using fluorescent dye AFLP markers and capillary electrophoresis. Four AFLP primer combinations were used, generating a total of 297 fragments, 213 of whic...

The role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.

Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...

INVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...
